The eleventh newsletter (May 21, 2002)

Hello again, pals'n'gals!

Thought we'd update you on the latest and greatest in Angry Youth Comixland before we fly the coop for good. First things first: Johnny R. (and his girlfriend/colorist ho Jenny) will be leaving Seattle on June 3, so if you want to get in touch, we recommend you stick to e-mail for now. If you MUST mail something via post, please send mail here until further notice: Johnny Ryan 1031 Sanborn Ave LA CA 90029 As for email, Johnny can be reached via superjohnny69@yahoo.com and will be checking in regularly. Now then, on with the news!

*** AYC #11 NOW AVAILABLE ON WEB!! *** We get a lot of letters requesting back issues from the first, self-published volume of AYC, but unfortunately these are long out of print. We do have some copies of #11 available, however, and are now selling them via http://www.johnnyr.com/comix/buy.html . Order now to ensure speedy delivery, as orders placed after June 3 will take approximately 1-2 weeks longer to fulfill due to our relocation. Payment is easy via PayPal, & we'll include free crap with every order!

*** AYC ORIGINAL ART SUPER SALE *** In a desperate bid to raise moving funds, Johnny is currently offering a special moving sale on all original art. Check out his selection at http://www.comicartcollective.com/johnnyryan and take $10 OFF the already low, low prices! As an extra bonus, we'll throw in FREE SHIPPING! This special deal ends MAY 31, so you snooze, you lose.

*** ANGRY YOUTH COMIX GETS BOOKED *** Speaking of back issues and other out-of-print tomfoolery, we are extremely excited to announce the forthcoming paperback collection of Johnny's out-of-print, self-published work (as well as various odds and ends rarely seen before). The book is entitled PORTAJOHNNY and is scheduled for release in Spring 2003. You'll crap your pants with glee when you see Johnny's undeniable artistic maturation (no, we're serious) and early appearances by characters like Omletta Prude, Ed Exhusband, and Cheeseburg Christianson. A must-have item for every toilet tank!

*** JOHNNY R TO APPEAR AT SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON *** We're not certain of his signing schedule yet, but Johnny will definitely be attending the San Diego Comic-Con, held August 1-4. Come out to meet the bespectacled ink stud and snap up some fun treats like buttons and stickers while you're at it.

*** RYAN & COOPER "GET IT ON" FOR THE KIDS *** Grab a copy of the latest Nickelodeon magazine (featuring the webbed wonder-- that's Spiderman, genius-- on the cover) and you'll find a two-page Spongebob Squarepants story drawn by the inimitable Dave Cooper (http://www.davegraphics.com) and written by Johnny Ryan! And if that's not enuff, Johnny's also got a one-panel gag cartoon therein. If a rise in youth-related sex crimes comes about after the release of this magazine, you know where to direct your letters of complaint.

*** JOHNNY R HAS A SCREW LOOSE *** Denizens of NYC should keep their eyes out for the latest issue of SCREW, Al Goldstein's notorious sex weekly (aka, tranny sex classifieds). The classy journal sports a Johnny Ryan cover, which pervos nationwide can see here: http://www.comicartcollective.com/detail.cfm?page=6457F864-BF01-4362-A591937759866800

*** JOHNNY ILLO IN COOL & STRANGE MUSIC *** Head to your nearest newsstand and pick up a copy of Cool & Strange Music #25, which (along with the usual hilarious features on oddball music) features a swell drawing of that spicy li'l devil himself, El Vez (The Mexican Elvis). To order online, check out their website at http://www.coolandstrange.com

*** LOADY'S LINKS: SALTY MAGAZINE *** If we may play the nepotism card for a moment, please let us recommend that you check out http://www.saltymagazine.com. This site belongs to Johnny's galpal Jenny and features a heap of funny writing, girly artwork, and kooky crafts. There are also comix-related articles (interviews with Peter Bagge and Daniel Clowes) and artwork (stuff by Kaz, Danny Hellman, R. Crumb, Eric Reynolds, and Johnny Ryan...natch.) galore. A nice selection of links to boot. Enjoy!

That's gonna do it for now! Thanks for your support, and remember that if you wanna unsubscribe, simply e-mail and let us know. Just don't me surprised if we talk smack about you afterwards. Haw! Haw! We kid. Yours 'til Niagara Falls, Loady McGee
